The State Correctional Institution at Cambridge Springs is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated person with the required experience to work as a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK:

As a Corrections Refrigeration Mechanic Trade Instructor for the Department of Corrections, you will maintain an inmate work crew for the purpose of instructing, coaching, and educating the inmates in the trade of refrigeration mechanics. You will provide on-the-job training and shop instruction for the vocational training of inmates in the refrigeration mechanic trade.

You will be responsible for instructing inmates in the practices, methods, and procedures of the refrigeration mechanic trade. You will be providing maintenance support relating to the refrigeration trade in both construction and repair and also performing necessary refrigeration and air conditioning repairs to all institution refrigeration and air conditioning systems. You will be providing supervision, security and custody for inmates assigned to work detail.

•Full-time employment.
•Work Hours – 7:30 am - 3:30 pm.
•40 hour work week.
•This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Please Note: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,838 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:

If you are selected for hire and you are not a current Commonwealth employee, this position requires you to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to the start of your employment. You are considered to be fully vaccinated two weeks after your second dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine (e.g., the Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines) or two weeks after receiving a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine (e.g., the Johnson & Johnson vaccine). If you are not fully vaccinated prior to the start of your employment, or you have not received an accommodation exempting you from the Commonwealth’s vaccination policy based on a medical or religious reason, your job offer will be rescinded.

If you are selected for hire and you are a current Commonwealth employee, this position requires you to be either fully vaccinated prior to starting in this position OR undergo weekly testing for COVID-19. Unless you have received an accommodation exempting you from the Commonwealth’s vaccination policy based on a medical or religious reason, if you are not fully vaccinated prior to starting in this position and you refuse to undergo weekly COVID-19 testing, your job offer will be rescinded.

•Minimum Experience and Training Requirements - Five years of experience in the repair and servicing of refrigeration systems or air conditioning systems; OR completion of an approved apprenticeship in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade; OR an equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the refrigeration or air conditioning mechanic trade.
•SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of an active Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certificate issued by an approved provider.
