This is a term appointment, scheduled to end one year from start date. Due to the temporary nature of this position, you will not be entitled to severance pay or layoff benefits of any kind at the end of your term appointment.

Position Description

Harvard University Information Technology (HUIT) is a community of Information Technology professionals committed to delivering service and technological solutions in support of teaching, learning, research and administration. Reporting to the Managing Director for Administration & Finance, the Program Manager for HUIT’s Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging Initiative will play a leadership role in advancing HUIT’s DIB strategy and plan.

This newly created role will serve as the program manager for a significant transformational workplace initiative HUIT’s Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging effort, which is a foundational component of HUIT’s workforce strategy to create a work environment in which all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, have equal access to opportunities and resources, and can contribute fully to HUIT’s success.

As part of the role, the incumbent will be expected to

• Gain an understanding of the IT environment at Harvard to ensure effective program delivery and facilitation
• Collaborate with designated project teams with functional representation across HUIT.
• Participate in and co-facilitate conversations to engage staff to determine factors that would encourage ongoing participation.
• Create, plan, and staff events and programs related to HUIT’s DIB efforts.
• Develop and edit program materials, including presentation decks, website, and newsletter content related to DIB to maintain consistent communication and transparency
• Serve as a visible resource and support existing partnerships with related University-level groups.
• Collect and manage data in support of ongoing data-informed decision-making, and report on progress on a quarterly basis
• Identify opportunities to support DIB within HUIT and Harvard IT and develop strategies and plans to bring them to fruition
• Manage project deadlines and ensure effective completion of plan deliverables

Typical Core Duties

• Administer and manage program activities in accordance with established organizational goals and schedules
• Maintain and enhance existing programs; collaborate with clients to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve operational issues
• Recommend options to improve existing programs and optimize resources
• Provide guidance on best practices and standards
• Contribute to project planning to design and implement new programs
• Provide program related metrics and reports to aid in decision-making
• Draft communications, reports and / or presentations
• Provide training to clients & staff
• May function as subject matter expert or project lead
• Ensure compliance with University Human Resources policies, procedures, and requirements and applicable legal regulations

Basic Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications are the minimum threshold a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
• Minimum of 5 years’ HR experience
• Project and/or program management experience

Please note that candidates with 5 years relevant, professional experience outside of Human Resources (HR) are also encouraged to apply.

Working Conditions:

Interview and onboarding activity for this position may be conducted via telephone & Zoom video conferencing, based on the department’s current presence on campus.
If you accept our offer and join the team, your position will be based on our campus in Cambridge, MA. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you will begin your work remotely. The remote nature of this job is only temporary, and all remote work must be performed within the United States. We currently expect that you will work remotely until Fall, 2021. Once the University and your supervisor determine that it is appropriate, you will be required to move your work location to the Cambridge campus or a state in which Harvard is registered as an employer as a condition of continued employment.

Harvard University Information Technology is currently developing hybrid workplace models which actively support remote work (within a Harvard registered state) where business and team needs allow. Any remote scheduling of your work, agreed to by your supervisor, will need to be in a state in which Harvard is registered as an employer as a condition of continued employment.
