Are you interested in earning your Associates Degree? How about if it’s tuition-free, while establishing a long-term career that offers growth, competitive salary and benefits?

Aon’s Apprenticeship Program offers exactly that. And good news -- we’re hiring now in NYC!

What is the Aon Apprenticeship Program?
The Aon Apprenticeship program was designed to create a new pathway for individuals interested in completing their Associates Degree while gaining valuable experience and establishing a long-term career at Aon. It is a two-year program that balances on-the-job learning at Aon with in-school classroom learning at a two-year accredited partner college.

During the program, you will quickly learn about our business, develop your professional skills and build lasting relationships with our colleagues and clients. Do you have experience in customer service, administrative positions, working with people or on a team? All of these experiences help you learn how to problem-solve and will serve you well as an Aon Apprentice. As far as industry-specific work – don’t worry, we will teach you everything you need to know on that front.

The Apprenticeship program is a full-time job. Apprentices dedicate a combined 40 hours per week working at Aon and attending classes to complete their Associates Degree – all of which is financially covered! Yes, you read that right – we will pay you for your time at Aon and your time spent in the classroom! Additionally, we will also cover your tuition and books while you are enrolled in the program.

After successful completion of the program, you will receive an offer to stay with Aon in a full-time, salaried position. You will also have achieved the “Certified Insurance Apprentice” designated by the Department of Labor and an Associates Degree. From there, you will have established a career at Aon and will have ample opportunity to grow as an industry professional.

What might your day look like?
No two days look alike in the Apprentice program – that’s the exciting part! Depending on your course-load each semester, your schedule will change slightly to give you the flexibility to manage your new classes. Your Aon manager will help you draft your work schedule each semester to ensure that you aren’t exceeding a combined 40 hours between work and classroom time. An example of a workweek might be:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday
8:30AM – 3:00PM Work at Aon
3:30PM – 7:00PM Attend classes

Thursday & Friday
9:00AM – 11:30AM Attend classes
12:00PM – 2:00PM Work at Aon

How will your existing skills set you up for success?

  • Your openness to learning, training and development will allow you to begin contributing to the team quickly and progress your career
  • Intermediate computer literacy with the ability (and desire) to communicate via email and by phone will position you for great success. Any experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel or PowerPoint) is always a plus, although we offer training designed to build upon these skills – no need to be an expert!
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills will set you up to connect and collaborate with your team members and clients.
  • Your skills in time management, prioritizing tasks throughout the day and paying close attention to detail will be key!

What’s Required & Expected?

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Enrolled and fully accepted as a student at Borough of Manhattan Community College by program start in Aug 2021.
  • Passed with a ‘C’ or higher first level English and Math, OR receive a passing score on a College Readiness exam provided by aligned college
  • A willingness to learn, both at Aon and through coursework!

Expectations: Apprentices are expected to maintain passing grades and meet all Aon performance standards at work throughout the duration of the program. Program begins at Aon with a start date of August 2021.

Compensation & Benefits
At the start of the program, your total salary will be $36,000. In addition, Aon will pay the cost of your tuition and books, which ranges from $4,000 - $7,000 a year. Throughout the program, as you develop your skills and increase work proficiency, you may be eligible to receive pay increases every six months throughout the two-year program. At the close of the program, based on your performance and degree attainment, you may be extended a full-time employment offer as well as a pay increase.

Additionally, you will be eligible for a comprehensive package of benefits for full-time colleagues, including, but not limited to: a 401(k) savings plan with employer contributions; an employee stock purchase plan; medical, dental and vision insurance, various types of leaves of absence, paid time off, including sick days and vacation days, short-term disability and optional long-term disability, health savings account, health care and dependent care reimbursement accounts, employee and dependent life insurance and supplemental life and AD&D insurance; optional personal insurance policies, adoption assistance, tuition assistance, commuter benefits, and an employee assistance program that includes free counseling sessions. Eligibility for benefits are governed by the applicable plan documents and policies.
