DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
As an investment analyst with the Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System (SERS) you will assist in the analysis and monitoring of investment assets.

We have an opportunity available:

On our PUBLIC MARKETS TEAM supporting the Managing Director of Public Markets in summarizing data on current and long-term trends, investment risks, and economic influences pertinent to investments in public equity and fixed income assets in the Defined Benefit, Defined Contribution, and Deferred Compensation Plans (“the Plans”) in accordance with the State Employees’ Retirement Code, other applicable state, federal, and international laws and regulations, and the Investment Policy Statements governing the Plans. Public equity and fixed income assets represent multi-billion dollar allocations within the Plans. Close coordination and frequent communication with employees, external firms, and the SERS Board is required.

On our PRIVATE MARKETS TEAM supporting the Managing Director of Private Markets in summarizing data on current and long-term trends, investment risks, and economic influences pertinent to investments in our Private Market program in accordance with the State Employees’ Retirement Code, other applicable state, federal, and international laws and regulations, and the SERS Statement of Investment Policy. The Private Market program represents a multi-billion dollar allocation with significant impact on the long-run performance, stability, and liquidity of the investment program. Close coordination and frequent communication with other asset class groups, external firms, and the agency’s Chief Counsel’s Office is required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY:
We are accepting applications from candidates qualifying for the Junior Investment Analyst Trainee level through the Investment Analyst 2 level. If selected for a position with SERS, appointment will be at the level and salary that SERS determines in commensurate with your experience.

Junior Investment Analyst Trainee ($67,384 - $107,619)
A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, or statistics from an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency; or A bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university or a certified foreign studies equivalency which includes or is supplemented by 24 semester hour credits in accounting, economics, finance, statistics or a related field*.

Junior Investment Analyst ($67,384 - $107,619)
Successful completion as a Junior Analyst Trainee; or Bachelor’s degree in economics, business or a related field*, and one year of relevant work experience in investment management.

Investment Analyst 1 ($85,771 - $136,783)
Successful completion of one year as a Junior Investment Analyst; or Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of relevant work experience in investment management.

Investment Analyst 2 ($103,296 - $164,617)
Successful completion of one year as an Investment Analyst 1; or Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant work experience in investment management.

*Related field may include but not may not be limited to finance, business administration, international business, economics, accounting, statistics, mathematics, and actuarial science.
