SUMMARY:
The person in this position uses moving equipment to load and unload bulk materials to or from rail cars, records operating data, observes the position of the cars when moving in relation to the surroundings, checks the condition of rail cars, troubleshoots and repairs equipment, and performs other duties as assigned.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Load and unload chemicals and bulk solids such as stone, sand, and grain into or out of rail cars and trucks using moving equipment
•Observe position of cars passing loading spouts and swing spouts and correct as necessary
•Operate loading and unloading equipment, conveyors, hoists, and other specialized material-handling equipment such as railroad
•Monitor product movement to and from rail cars and trucks to ensure constant product flow
•Perform required equipment inspection on each shift; complete vehicle-maintenance forms
•Comply with all general safety and operating rules
•Assist railroad crews with various rail-related tasks to facilitate loading and staging of rail cars
•Manage other projects and perform other duties as assigned

PREFERRED SKILLS AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
•Two years of work experience, including operation of equipment such as forklifts, conveyors, pumps, and heavy machinery
•Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR CREDENTIALS:
•High school diploma
