Job Summary

Under the direction of the Public Safety Shift Sergeant, the Public Safety Assistant performs a variety of duties to provide protection of the member’s property and assets of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Provides security of the employees, members, patrons, guests, visitors, property, and assets of San Manuel Casino, and assists in vehicle and pedestrian traffic control. In addition to the Public Safety primary duties and responsibilities special assignment opportunities include fleet maintenance, mail courier delivery, motocross and communications.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Maintains a visual presence within San Manuel Casino and its surrounding properties.
Responds to customers, employees, and Tribal member's requests for service, assistance, and information.
Provides traffic and pedestrian control when required.
Alerts management or supervisors of circumstances that may require investigation.
Assists in the coordination of emergency procedures when requested and needed.
Assumes additional responsibilities assigned by any supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

Education/Experience/Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Must be 21 years of age at time of appointment.
Must present a professional appearance and demeanor at all times. Hair must be neatly groomed and styled so that it remains above the ears and is not allowed to extend below the collar. Mustaches, when worn, must be neatly trimmed and not extended beyond the corners of the mouth, nor hang below the top lip.
Candidate/employee will be required to undergo and successfully pass pre-employment drug screening and pre-employment psychological examination.
Special Assignments Opportunities - are only available to current Public Safety Assistants (PSA). Personnel selected for these positions will be required to go through a testing process with final appointment by the Department of Public Safety Director. Once selected, the PSA will receive training for their assignment

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
A qualified candidate/employee must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record as determined by the company’s insurance carrier.
