Lead the technical design and implementation of new digital capabilities supporting the R&D Strategy & Planning and Global Clinical Operations functions.  Effectively work on large complex programs in collaboration with IT (Plan, Build & Run) and business function stakeholders, ensuring solutions satisfy business needs, are appropriately aligned with BMS and industry standards, and are engineered to be reliable, cost-effective, scalable, and sustainable throughout the expected lifecycle.  Manage the delivery of technical teams including solution architecture definition, technical design, development, testing, integration, and deployment.  Author and/or review technical documentation including solution architecture, technical design, detailed design, and IQ/OQ documents.  Develop technical proof of concepts including hands-on programming where required.  Lead the identification and evaluation of new technologies, delivery methods (e.g., SaaS/PaaS/IaaS), and application development methodologies and supporting toolsets.

Qualifications
BS/BA in Engineering, Computer Science or Life Sciences (or other quantitative related discipline).
Masters or other advanced degree is a plus. 
At least 5 years' experience in a technical architect role, preferably in the Life Sciences Industry.
To be effective in this role, the incumbent must have broad technology expertise, strong working knowledge of Pharmaceutical R&D business processes, ability to develop project plans, and manage the delivery of a team. 
The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record implementing complex technical solutions, developing software applications following structured SDLC processes in a regulated environment and leading technical teams. 
Experience working with offshore software development models is preferred. 
Knowledge of programming languages/frameworks (Java, Spring, Grails, Groovy, SQL, Perl, SAS), databases (Oracle, MySQL, Postgres), SaaS/PaaS/IaaS (Amazon Web Services, salesforce.com, Veeva) desired.
Knowledge of the Medidata suite of applications (Rave, Strategic Monitoring) and Oracle Life Sciences suite of applications (Oracle Clinical, Siebel Clinical, Oracle Clinical Development Analytics) is a plus.
Must be a relationship builder and capable of functioning without line authority and working effectively in a highly matrixed organization.
Strong communication, planning, organization, and collaboration skills are required.
