Job Description:
• Provides technical direction and engineering knowledge for communications activities
including planning, designing, developing, testing, installing and maintaining large
communications networks.
• Ensures that adequate and appropriate planning is provided to direct building architects
and planners in building communications spaces and media pathways meet standards.
• Develops, operates, and maintains voice communications systems.
• Designs, stages, configures, implements and support for VoIP installations as necessary.
• Provides complex engineering or analytical tasks and activities associated with one or
more technical areas within the communications function.
• Analyze problems and define solutions for existing voice communication issues.
• Respond to troubleshoot and repair failures preventing customer access to critical
applications throughout the organizations.
• Diagnose wiring problems and resolve them.
Educational Requirement:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, computer engineering or electrical
engineering.
Additional Technical Skills /Experience Desired:
• Diagnostic skills.
• Troubleshoot network issues quickly by identifying the sources of problems; hardware,
software or network.
• Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills to assess network performance and
recommended changes.
• Good interpersonal skills to communicate with network users and other information
system professionals.

Minimum Training/Certification requirements:
DOD 8570.01-M - IAT Level II
• Baseline Certification
o CompTIA Security+ or
o Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) - Security
• Computing Environment
o Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) – Voice or Collaboration
