Position: Assistant Operations/Terminal Manager

U.S. Concrete is seeking a "hands-on" location manager at our Brooklyn, New York Marine Terminals. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, articulate and responsible. This is a full-time, year-round position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise day-to-day operations of terminals. This includes managing terminal labor staff to maximize operational efficiency and safely deliver quality goods and services in accordance with all company policies & procedures.
  • Support and Administer Safety Management Systems at Marine Terminals.
  • Ensure that all marine operations are conducted with due regard to the safety of personnel, facilty and environment.
  • Manage and maintain the organization and safekeeping assets and equipment at the terminal.
  • Schedule and manage customer barge orders to ensure safe, timely deliveries and ensure orders from all sources are processed efficiently.
  • Manage and maintain administration requirements including material inventory in a daily and monthly report.
  • Record and Facilitate routine maintenance on company equipment per company policy and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Ensure Compliance of Homeland Security regulations in accordance with Facility Security Plan
  • Recruit and facilitate hiring personnel as required to accomplish company goals.

Qualifications:

  • Four year college education in Maritime or related studies or equivalent experience.
  • At least 2 years marine operations experience at terminal or aboard vessels, or equivalent military experience.
  • Knowledge of terminal maintenance systems and equipment.
  • Capable of making decisions and giving directions to facilitate prompt service delivery.
  • Ability to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
  • Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
  • Ability to get along with office staff and terminal operating personnel.
  • Must have the physical ability to board barges and ships at terminals
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc)
  • Valid State driver's license
  • Valid TWIC

Job Condition And Environment

  • Required to board tugs, barges, and ships at terminals in all weather conditions and at all hours.
  • Exposure to all weather conditions (rain, ice, snow, heat, wind, heavy seas, etc.)
  • Must be comfortable with heights.

Expected Hours Of Work

  • Must be available to take emergency calls on a designated call schedule.
  • Normal work hours are 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Take communications 24 hours a day, including weekends, concerning changes in schedules and conditions.
