Who We Are

Up2Us Sports is a coalition of more than 1,200 nonprofit organizations that believe in the power of sports to fight childhood obesity, end academic failure, and reduce gang participation. Up2Us Sports’ flagship program, Up2Us Coach, is a national coach/mentor program that places, trains, and supports coaches to provide meaningful experiences to youth in a variety of sports programs nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage participants to gain and develop life skills, knowledge, and techniques through sport, using lessons learned at Up2Us Sports’ best in class training events
  • Perform data collection activities as directed by your Up2Us Coach Program Manager
  • Act as a role model, gaining the respect and trust of the community and youth served
  • Completion of monthly reflection logs
  • Attend/participate in Up2Us Coach monthly trainings, meetings, and special initiatives

Eligibility Requirements

  • Pass all necessary Federal and State background checks
  • 18 years or older
  • Must have, or be working toward, a High School diploma, GED or it’s equivalent
  • Ability to commit to required hours of Up2Us Coach Operation Coach service

  • A focus on helping youth become successful young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A commitment to improving conditions and providing opportunities for all youth

Compensation/ Benefits

  • AmeriCorps Living Allowance (900 Hours = $300-400/bi weekly)
  • End-of-Service Education Award (900 hours = $2,907)
  • 40 hours of research-based training and professional development
