About Shannon
It would be more than welcoming to speak with our countrymen who have served for the freedoms we have at home. I moved to SE India myself when I was 23 and it was a complete difference of what I was accustomed to.
I ended up staying for 4 years (unplanned) to help my father's family, my grandparents which I had not met until then. When I came back to the States, it was again an unfamiliarity I had to acquaint myself to.
I can definitely relate to having to adjust when coming back into the country. Finding work and getting back into school and graduate or continuing on to graduate school. My cousin, whom also is an army veteran, having been stationed in Germany 4 years, now is a Co-Founder of a non-profit in the Houston, TX area helping to assists veterans recently coming home. When she first came back, she worked for the VA job center in Houston before branching out into philanthropy.
I would be happy to help any of our returning veterans adjust, tell them my own personal story and relate, and possibly help them to find potential educational or job opportunities in their field of interests.
Always up for a talk about anything however, and feel this would be a great way to represent our armed forces and the amazing services that they do daily in order to bring freedom.
