Seeking a career in engineering
Chula Vista, CA
I started off receiving my BS in Civil Engineering through the Georgia Tech NROTC Scholarship in Atlanta, GA. I graduated and commissioned as an Ensign in 2011 and spent the majority of my commitment in San Diego, CA serving on 3 ships and in multiple roles.
My areas of expertise varied from Project Management to Supervision of 10-30 direct reports over my 6 years. I was able to leverage my Project Management experience into achieving my PMP Certification earlier this year. I was also involved in a number of technical roles, leading divisions that maintained the electrical plants and propulsion engines for the ships to which I was assigned.
After leaving the Navy at the start of 2018, I worked with Military Officer Recruiters and interviewed for multiple positions, including Project Management and Production/Operations/Maintenance Supervisory roles. My technical experience, Supervisory roles, and Maintenance experience turned out to be a good match for a Maintenance Supervisor position in a Distribution Center in Ontario, California.
I worked there until June of this year. With my personal life leading me back to San Diego, and my desire to ultimately shift my career back to Civil Engineering, I left my position and re-located back to San Diego to search for work. I passed my Fundamentals of Engineering Exam before finishing school in 2011, and applied for and received my Engineer in Training Certification in Civil Engineering for the state of California.
At this time, I am actively seeking a Civil Engineering position with a government or private group to continue developing myself and pursue my passion in the Transportation sector.
