About CARY

I grew up on a wheat farm in Eastern Washington. After receiving my bachelor's degree in Computer Science, I joined the US Army. In the Army, I was responsible for leading and training soldiers and planning and executing missions. I was entrusted with the welfare, morale and professional development of more than 30 soldiers under my command. I served all over the world for eight years including two overseas tours. While in the Army, I attended college in the evening to earn my Master's degree in Human Resources Management.

I am very good at soliciting, receiving and acting on feedback. I also have a well-defined leadership philosophy and am therefore very consistent in my day to day actions. My consistency has helped me build a high level of credibility. My superiors, peers and direct reports often comment "That's exactly the kind of thing I would expect you to say (or do)".

I have led small teams for 14 years and find joy in establishing goals, providing feedback, celebrating success and holding team members accountable. My mix of skills, knowledge and abilities include public speaking, project management, process improvement, recruiting and leadership.
