About John

John Slater is currently a Contracts Manager for Raytheon Company’s Integrated Defense Systems Mission Systems and Sensors Command and Control division. His responsibilities include Contracts in Saudi Arabia, France and Switzerland. Prior to his Contracts role, he was a Principal Material Program Manager Lead for Space and Airborne Systems Supply Chain Proposal Excellence (SCPX) Electronic Warfare and Battlefield programs. He has also been a Material Estimator as well as a Procurement Specialist for Raytheon’s Global Business Services Enterprise Procurement team.

Since joining Raytheon in 2009, Slater has held positions of increasing responsibility in a variety of roles. He was chosen to participate in a 3 year leadership development rotation program where he was provided a platform for developing acute business acumen through multi-discipline collaboration and extensive training in executive leadership for aerospace, technology and government contracting.

Before joining Raytheon, Slater began his career in the front office for Process Fab Inc., an aerospace design and manufacturing facility in Santa Fe Springs, CA. Through a progression of increased responsibilities, his duties culminated in the management of a team of material estimators in all aspects of government contracting, proposal preparation, presentation and document storage.

In addition to membership in the Program Management Institute (PMI), Slater is a Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) through the National Contracts Management Association (NCMA), a Raytheon 6 Sigma Specialist, a certified Program Manager Level 6 IPT Lead, Subcontracts Manager Level 3 and a Procurement Manager Level 4.

Slater has participated in numerous employee resource groups, tutored, coached and inspired children in a variety of disciplines, chaired a variety of internal and external events and is a recipient of the Raytheon iVolunteer coin and U.S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award. He has clearly illustrated his desire to give back to the community and help foster and promote innovation in all domains.

Slater earned his bachelor’s degree in technical management, a master’s degree in business administration as well as a master’s degree in project management. He is also a graduate of the Raytheon Enterprise Cross Functional Rotation Program.
