About Jean Paul
I was born in New York but grew up in Los Angeles, Costa Rica, and Miami. Los Angeles is still the place I feel the most at home and one of the reasons I applied for my graduate program at USC. I am seeking opportunities at companies with business in the United States but also with a footprint in Australia, Europe, and Latin America.
My statement of Purpose: To use my experience, education, and the power of my dreams to increase my sphere of influence for the betterment of those I can elevate.
Service History: I just retired after 23 years of active duty. I started as an enlisted Marine but became a Chief Warrant Officer 3 and eventually a Captain before retiring in 2019. I accomplished every one of my goals- even the ones I added in response to changing circumstances as I remained in the service longer than I expected. I had a great time, I traveled plenty, and I met and worked with many professionals but I'm happy my active duty service is finished.
Personal Passions: As cliche as it sounds, it is to be a dad who is present and active in every aspect of my daughter's upbringing. After that, it is becoming a more active citizen, paying forward my many opportunities, self-improvement, accomplishing some of the dreams I thought needed to wait until I was retired, and travel.
Professional Passions: Understanding the civilian sector in a way that allows me to grow professionally into a work environment where I can give back and contribute to the success fo an organization that operates globally.
Education: I have a BS in Management Studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus. Also, I am a current graduate student at the University of Southern California pursuing MS in Global Supply Chain Management.
