About KARA

Aloha, my name is Kara Gormont. I have a Health Services Management and Policy/Masters in Healthcare Administration from The Ohio State University and a Bachelors in Nursing from Auburn University. I am a board certified healthcare administrator (FACHE) with a proven healthcare executive track record. I have been honored with 26 years of progressive leadership experience in challenging, diverse, and complex environments; including inpatient and outpatient service lines, graduate medical education, international markets, integrated health systems, and ambulatory surgery. Leading, mentoring and developing a talented workforce to maximize their potential continues to motivate me. I currently hold the position of Commander of the 15th Medical Group at Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam where I lead a talented group of professionals to provide outpatient primary care services, public health, environmental surveillance, and emergency preparedness for disaster response. In this role I am able to work across the military multi-service market to build military and civilian partnerships to enhance and integrate care. Through collaboration with partners, these efforts improve healthcare delivery for 106K regional beneficiaries. I have also served on various boards for ACHE to include currently and previously on the Hawaii Chapter, the Tidewater ACHE Chapter, and also served as the Guam Local Program Chapter President in 2010 – 2011. I am interested in seeking advice on transitioning from the military into the civilian healthcare setting. Global health engagement, inpatient services, and improving community based care area areas of interest to me. I will complete my role here in Hawaii no later than the spring/summer of 2020. I am looking forward to engaging with any who have thoughts on how to launch from a career with an organization that I love into another work home after the military. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Mahalo - Kara
