About Jon
I grew up in Honolulu, HI, so I was around a large military presence. I don't have immediate family in the military, however my uncle and father-in-law both served, and I have always had a love and respect for the military and military history. I moved to Los Angeles for my undergrad degree, and stayed. I've since married, started a family, and went back to grad school in L.A., so this is now my home.
I'm interested in real estate, architecture, and urban planning, so I've always had jobs in those areas. I started my own real estate investment firm with a partner 2 years ago and we continue to grow and invest in our local communities- right hear in L.A.
My father was a macro-economist and college professor so I think I bring a sober and analytical approach to everything I do, while still embracing the entrepreneur in me. I've started 3 businesses in my life- the first one was a huge failure and the two I own now (I also own a property management company) are growing and successful. I learned a lot from my first failed business and wish I had had some sort of mentor to help me. While my parents are very bright and my father is a college professor, they both lacked real world experience which I had to learn from the school of hard knocks- "street smarts" as they say.
I would absolutely love to mentor or at the very lease start up a relationship with veterans interested in real estate. I cannot thank them enough for their service and I would like to help any way I can. Looking forward to meeting anyone who wants to talk.
