Maximize Potential by Joining & Supporting Community Organizations

Networking

As an educator in fire suppression, emergency medical services, confined space rescue, etc., I promote myself and my company by becoming involved in local, state and national groups. Veterans organizations, church groups and senior centers are all great ways to show your willingness to provide support as well as seeking your own. I teach a lot of my courses to local responders, free of charge, which leads to exposure of my knowledge and work ethic to for-profit companies. Teaching a Hazardous Materials Technician or EMT class to a fire department that does not have a large enough training budget, can and has lead to doing the same course for a company that can and will pay $1,000 a day. Currently, I have multiple CPR courses at a local senior center and the local school. The school is a very good 'contact' point. Teaching eighth graders means that they in turn tell their parents about the free CPR training they got from me. This gets my 'profile' out to parents who are within the age range to own or influence their own companies.

My advice, become involved, become known, become successful!
